Main Floor Bathroom ... YIKES!

While I was at work one day last week, GT and Bop convinced P to pick up a sledgehammer and get busy. The privacy in this house keeps getting more and more difficult to find! One question: now what?!?! Stay posted ...

Backyard Tree Action

Rockin' Robin

The babies are growing like weeds and the biggest one of the three has started to fly, flapping and swooning across the yard, leaving the others to warm the nest.

Cheep! Cheep!

Hey! Look at what the industrious robins have made! Not simply a fab abode, but some wee creatures that are cheep-cheeping inside. It drives Scooby CRAZY! He's barking up a storm whenever he's on the back deck, and it'll be a few more weeks before these babies test their wings and move out.

External Renovations

Ha ha ha! I am amused at the industrious robins who have been renovating on our back deck. I must admit, the location is perfect and the view incomparable, but I have to laugh at the mess! It looks like an unmade bed! Ironic that these sweethearts are fixing up their living space outside while we're doing the same inside. It looks like their renos are moving along at a better clip.

Long Overdue Update

Although our farm is in a continuous state of repair, there are moments that take my breath away, when the rain has briefly stopped and the sun makes a sweet appearance. If we just look away from the many things that need doing and focus on something beautiful, everything is put in perspective. We've been visited by hoards of hummingbirds lately, thanks to the new feeders that GT and Bop hung up, and the distinctive buzz is fairly frequent. This is a close-close-up of one wee bird; I can't see the colours so I can't identify it. Any suggestions?

A sight most beautiful is that of my eldest son willingly and enthusiastically taking the traditional male role of "King of the BBQ". Doesn't get better than that!

This is spring?!?!

The weather can be likened to a rain forest, the skies heavy and dark most days, feeling like dusk mid-afternoon. The amount of rain in the past few weeks is incredible.

This spring has yet to blossom into summer, and although there are good points, like the lush and gorgeous blooms and flowers, the grass has been growing like Arnold Schwarzenegger's web of lies. We have broken in the new-to-us John Deere, many times over.

Spring Cleaning

It's May and GT and Bop are back from the sunny south, ready and willing to whip Hawthorn Creek Farm into shape. They worked their you-know-whats off, clearing brush and burning it and clipping branches and cutting grass and weeding and planting and hanging bird feeders and bird houses. It was a terrific use of the lovely weather this past week, particularly because we're in for a rainy week ahead. I was tired just watching them, and I'm so glad they finally took a break and got me a drink.

Knock Knock

We have a new door into the garage and it's so awesome! So easy to take out the recycling and garbage! So convenient to leave muddy rainboots and wet raincoats! Since these photos were taken we have some nice neat new steps as well so the drop isn't as neck-breaking.
